    Mean & median calculator

    Questions & answers

    Does average mean the same thing as median?

    Here, average means the arithmetic mean: sum divided by count. Median is the middle of the sorted list. A high outlier can change the mean substantially while changing the median very little.

    Can I enter weighted values?

    This tool gives each entered value equal weight. It does not calculate a weighted mean; enter repeated observations individually only when each occurrence is one observation.
