    Cable voltage drop estimator

Estimate voltage loss on copper or aluminum cable routes for DC, single-phase AC or balanced three-phase AC loads. Enter your actual one-way distance, conductor size, current, power factor and conditions. Results show estimated volts, percentage and comparison to a limit entered by you.

    MAKE IT SIMPLE
    Assumptions and safety

Uses approximate 20°C copper/aluminium resistivity, temperature correction, and voltage-drop formula 2IL(R cosφ+X sinφ) for single-phase, √3 IL(R cosφ+X sinφ) for three-phase; DC uses 2ILR. The target is entered by you, not an automatic code threshold. Actual cable resistance, reactance, routing and safety require an engineer.

    Worked examples

    24 V DC, 10 A, 100 m one-way copper, 10 mm² at 20°C

    Approximately 3.45 V drop or 14.37%

    The DC formula counts the outgoing and return cable paths (2 × I × L × R).
